Wigan Athletic Academy
(Alan Syddall 15/11/2016)
It is with immense pride that our application to become a Wigan Athletic Academy Partnership Club has been accepted and the contract has been signed and put into force.
The partnership will work for both parties, primarily, Wigan Athletic will have priority when it comes to selecting our stronger players for Academy training.
From season 2017/18 the club will be fielding one 'Elite' team to run alongside our other teams which will continue to be split as equally as possible taking into account ability and school attended.
This will attract the calibre of players that Wigan Athletic will be looking at and place them in a more competitive environment in which they can show off their skills to the watching scouts from Wigan Athletic.
In return, Wigan Athletic will refer players back to our club when they are released from the Academy so they can continue to monitor their progress in a competitive environment.
Our coaches will be offered on going training by the Academy and we can take our teams to Wigan Athletic home games free of charge.
Wigan Athletic will also support our presentation events by sending down first team players, when available.
In addition to the above EAJFC will continue to support grassroots football within our club for players of ALL abilities who just want to have fun playing football.
All in all this is a FANTASTIC opportunity for EAJFC, an opportunity that will see our club continue to progress at a rapid rate and will run alongside the opening of our high class new facility at The Hive and our other partnership with Little Kickers, who are doing a great job working with our 4 and 5 year olds,
