Wigan Athletic Academy
(Alan Syddall 14/01/2017)
When EAJFC linked up with the Wigan Athletic Academy, the main reason for doing so was to have a direct link with a professional football club, so that our stronger players could be given the opportunity to train and potentially sign for a professional club.
The only player we have recommended so far is ''Jaiden'' and it is with immense pride that Jaiden was selected to attend the Wigan Athletic Academy after being watched by one of the Wigan Athletic scouts, Peter Broadstock.
We wish Jaiden all the very best as he starts out on what could be a great path to a career in football.
Our club has since recommended two other players to Wigan Athletic but with the bad weather they have not yet been seen by the Wigan scouts.
Moving forwards, starting for the 2017/18 season, EAJFC will be selecting an elite squad at the under 7 age group so that our stronger players will be able to play against the very best in their age group from other clubs and to also attract strong players to EAJFC with a view to being recommended to the Wigan Athletic Academy.
This does not mean we are turning away from being a 'grassroots club' for all abilities, far from it,and, numbers permitting,we are aiming to form three other teams at the under 7 age group every season so that our club continues to attract not only the stronger players for the elite squad but also continues to provide the opportunity for players of any ability to play and enjoy football.
