An unexpectedly robust pitch at Winsford lead to today’s game being ON much to the consternation of the red wine drinkers of this parish!

We’ve not come across Winsford in recent years and given they are Remainers in division 2, we were expecting a tough contest especially based on their double digit demolition of Witton Warriors a few weeks ago.

The sun shone and the game was on. Within 2 minutes, Harry F bagged us a first, on 4 minutes, OJ doubled our advantage and 6 minutes in Ben took it to 3-0. A free kick in the 9th minute somehow found itself in the back of the net and even Harry S will admit that it wasn’t a shot. 4-0

The central midfield 3 of Sam, Erin and Luke were bossing this game with energy in closing down everything Winsford tried.

I probably jinxed it by suggesting Wayne pinched me to show it wasn’t a dream and Winsford did get a goal midway thru the 1st half.

Halftime 4-1.

The halftime team talk of “Only half done, more of the same 2ndhalf” must have come out as “You are footballing geniuses and try anything you like especially giving the ball to the opposition” as we went a lot shaky in the 2nd half.
Isaac took us to 5-1 but after that it was all Winsford, 5-2; 5-3; 5-4.
We clung on just!
